Inclusion of abortion in the Constitution: the Senate votes for
267 for, 50 against. The Senate gave the green light for the inscription of “freedom guaranteed to women to have recourse to an abortion” in the Constitution. The amendments to the bill were rejected and there will therefore be no new vote.

Senate vote: Emmanuel Macron’s announcement
The President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron has just announced on X that it will take place next week: “I am committed to making women’s freedom to have an abortion irreversible by enshrining it in the Constitution.”, he explains. Then he announces: “After the National Assembly, the Senate is taking a decisive step which I welcome. For the final vote, I will convene Parliament in Congress on March 4”.
A very soon date therefore, which is not surprising since rumors evoked the desire of the Head of State to announce this inclusion of abortion in the Constitution for International Women’s Rights Day on March 8.
