First announced under the code name Project Vitriol, The Thaumaturge is finally available on PC this week. The role-playing game published by 11 bit studios and developed by Fool’s Theory takes us back to Warsaw at the beginning of the 20th century with Wiktor Szulskicapable of capturing supernatural creatures for use in combat (but nothing related to Pokémon Or Palworld).

- A modern take on RPGs:
The Thaumaturge transcends traditional elements of the genre by including side quests seamlessly integrated into the main story, while following an important and personal adventure focused on the narrative. All this supported by a myriad of other little stories.
Influence and manipulate characters, creating a path through the world of The Thaumaturge. The watchword is “prudence”, each decision being important and which will have consequences which nourish or restrict the character’s faults such as pride, vehemence or malice. The goal is to give important answers through a choice-based dialogue system.
- A supernatural twist on combat:
Turn-based clashes are led by salutors and ethereal entities commanded by the thaumaturge. To win, one must be perceptive to predict and counter enemy attacks and use the salutors’ unique abilities to dominate the opponent. Being inspired by Slavic mythology, enemies are characterized by their psychic attack and manipulation abilities. Wiktor has access to a multitude of upgrades to make combat engaging, combining strength and strategy.
- Exploring the magnificent tapestries of Warsaw:
Made with Unreal Engine 5, The Thaumaturge captures all the intricate details of early 20th century Warsaw, a city blending Polish, Jewish and Russian cultures. From opulent hotels to Powiśle cabins, the carefully researched historical setting provides a poignant backdrop for a tale rich in meaning and intrigue. It is possible to encounter historical figures such as Rasputin adding a layer of authenticity to this supernatural adventure.
In addition to the official promotion, the specialist editorial staff deliver their verdict on The Thaumaturge, with very positive marks. The testers appreciated the fantastic universe of the game, its gameplay strategic and its well-crafted scenario, even if you have to count on a slightly dated technical production.
The Thaumaturge is available on PC via SteamL’Epic Games Store, GOG.com And Gamesplanet from €29.74. THE RPG will also arrive later on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
