The latest episodes of The Wheel of Time (watch on Prime Video) have made surprising revelations about an Aes Sedai who plays a double game.
Nothing is going well for our heroes in season 2 of The Wheel of Time. While Moraine (Rosamund Pike) has still not regained her powers, Ishamael is getting closer to Rand and Egwene (Madeleine Madden) has been captured by the Seanchan to the great dismay of Nynaeve (Zoe Robins), spectators have discovered the true face of a member of the White Tower.
Fans of the literary saga know from the start that Liandrin (the red Aes Sedai played by Kate Fleetwood), who hates men to the highest degree, is in reality part of the black Ajah. This secret brotherhood has taken an oath to the Dark One and works in concert with him.
The black color is not explained by the color they wear – since they are officially members of one of the 7 orders (red, blue, green, yellow…) – but by the fact that they went from dark side.

Being a black Ajah implies that their members betray the Three Oaths they took with the Staff of Oaths when they became Aes Sedai. Here they are as a reminder:

- They should never make a weapon that a human could use to kill another
- They cannot use power as a weapon, except in cases of force majeure (self-defense or to preserve life)
We quickly understand that Liandrin betrayed his oath and his values. She lied to convince Egwene and Nynaeve to leave the White Tower and hand them over to the enemy. She also used her power on Sheriam Bayanar to alter her memories and force her to tamper with her registry.
The mention of the Black Ajah makes the Aes Sedai tremble since it was only rumors until now. In episode 7 of The Wheel of Time, which Prime Video will broadcast this Friday, September 29, the channelers will discover that Liandrin has been a traitor all along. In the novels, the Red Ajah is not the only one to be part of this brotherhood. But the other members have not yet been introduced in season 2…
