Season 3 of The Witcher has just started filming. On this occasion, Steve Gaub, executive producer on the series, revealed the new places and sets that welcome Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra and the others.

Season 2 introduced fans to a variety of stunning new locations, such as Kaer Morhen, the home of the witchers. In addition to this impressive fortress, fans were able to meet other witchers, such as Vesemir (Kim Bodnia) Geralt’s mentor, and his friend Eskel. The opportunity also to realize that not all witchers have the same physical appearance as Geralt.

The settings of The Witcher are among the aspects of the series that have received the most praise since the first season. Without a doubt, its polished aesthetics and impressive landscapes go a long way in setting the tone and atmosphere of the series.

Steve Gaub posted a first look at some of the new sets and filming locations for the third season on Instagram. This first image shows the construction of what will probably be a huge set, but Gaub gives no clues in the caption.

Along with the set under construction, there’s also this photo of a tunnel that looks very real, along with a cryptic caption: “Something evil is happening around here in season 3 of The Witcher? The adventures of location scouting continue.

And a third publication, even more mysterious, concludes these first revelations. “It looks like something a dwarf would use to hide from the Immortal Mother. But then again, we know the Immortal Mother now wanders into a different realm, right @aniamarson49?!” writes Steve Gaub, addressing Ania Marson, the interpreter of Voleith Meir, the Immortal Mother.

These photos are only a first preview. Above all, they reveal the colossal efforts made, even for a big-budget production like this. Season 3 is set to pick up right after the Season 2 cliffhanger, which left several unanswered questions and plenty of room for Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer’s story to progress. But we will have to wait until 2023!
