After the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the third smartphone manufacturer in the world unveils the Xiaomi 12X. A (slightly) more affordable model, which benefits from an attractive technical sheet.
Far from being a “Lite” smartphone, this Xiaomi 12X completes a range that is already quite well served, but also takes the risk of overlapping existing models.
A less powerful Xiaomi 12
The data sheet of the Xiaomi 12X is unequivocal. This third model of the manufacturer’s latest range is none other than a Xiaomi 12 in which we would have embedded a less powerful processor.
Indeed, here we are trading an overpowered Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 against the Snapdragon 870. A SoC from last year, which we rank more on the mid-range side than flagships, but which obviously offers 5G.
It should be understood that the smartphone will therefore be slower than its big brothers. However, he should be very comfortable in most everyday tasks.

For the rest, the Xiaomi 12X has a 6.28-inch Full HD + AMOLED screen, which allows a refresh rate of 120 Hz (480 Hz sampling) as well as HDR10 + and Dolby Vision compatibility.
It also has two speakers set up by Harman-Kardon (Dolby Atmos compatible), but ignores a jack.
The smartphone has three cameras (the same as the Xiaomi 12) of 50 + 13 + 5 megapixels on the back and a 32 megapixel module on the front. Its battery has 4,500 mAh and can be recharged at 67 W by wire. Please note that wireless charging is not supported by this model.
Finally, the Xiaomi 12X will come with MIUI 13 (Android 12) and will offer 4 years of updates.
Xiaomi 12X: price and availability
Offered, like the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro in grey, blue and purple colors, the Xiaomi 12X will only be available in one configuration, which is as follows:
- 8+256 GB: 799.90 euros
A pack also including the Xiaomi Buds 3 is offered at 849.90 euros.
This positioning is quite risky for Xiaomi, since it is launching its new smartphone more or less at the same price as last year’s Xiaomi Mi 11, which was a real top of the range.
