The government website ReminderConso, launched in April 2021, continues to inform Internet users about potentially dangerous products that they may have purchased. This time, industrial cakes are the target of a new recall campaign. Recently, ham contaminated with salmonella, hamburger steaks or even another ham contaminated with Listeria had also been singled out by the site.

Food products are not the only ones targeted by the government. Toys, for example, can also be the cause of a recall campaign, and this has already been the case, particularly for choking risks. Which brand of industrial cakes is behind this recall campaign?

This Wednesday, November 15, industrial cakes were recalled by the government site. It is more precisely mini marbled sponge cakes from the Fundiez brand. Lot 304 with a limitation date set at December 4, 2023, the marketing of which began on March 29, 2023 until November 18, 2023, is concerned.

The latter are distributed throughout France and contain, according to the RappelConso website, glycidol fatty acid esters at high levels. These are food contaminants found in some vegetable oils and processed foods. These are formed during the oil refining process and are considered potentially carcinogenic to humans. A daily dose has thus been set but the cakes cited contain more food contaminants than the maximum allowable dose. As explained on the product sheet, these “carcinogenic and genotoxic contaminants at high levels” and should therefore not be consumed. For any refund, it is advisable to contact the retailer until Wednesday, November 29, which will mark the end of the recall procedure.
