The home office is uncomfortable and annoying? You can make yourself so nice during your working hours at home. We’ll tell you how – without the colleagues noticing anything.

Man, my back hurts again. The feet are cold. The skin is dry from the cursed heating air – and we sit there in front of our work laptop in the home office. The question you should ask yourself is: Why suffer when you can make yourself beautiful at the same time? We have some classics that could be done at work rather than after work.

Bring on the face masks!

You can spend the whole time between the daily video calls with a mask for your skin damaged by the heating air. If you don’t have severe adult acne, you can simply do without makeup in front of your laptop and then it will be even less obvious, even with spontaneous calls, that you have just treated yourself to a relaxation cure.

The only drawback: Precisely because of these people, who like to start a video call spontaneously, you should use sheet masks instead of those that you first have to apply and later remove with lots of warm water. Or you just call back five minutes later… then you were “just to get another coffee” or to the toilet. Fits.

Why freeze when there are so many options?

My number one favorite this home office winter is a blanket with sleeves. I can wrap myself up completely and still type and work really well. If I really do have a meeting in between where I should look presentable, I just fold the blanket over my legs for a moment and look fine again. What more do you want?

Other ideas for the home office are of course the good old hot-water bottle or a nice grain pillow (e.g. on the back or on the lap). This immediately makes everything much warmer and so we feel comfortably warm, even when we are sitting in front of the desk. Incidentally, self-heating neck plasters are also real lifesavers, or how about a rabbit or other animal onesie made of fluffy material? In case of doubt, however, this is a little more noticeable if you wear it in the video call.

Everything for the feet

Admittedly, this tip is for the more extreme of us. But: Have you ever thought that you can EASY set up a footbath under your desk? You don’t even have to do much. Just put a tub under the table and then warm everything up and let your feet soak. If you’re clever, you can simply set up the foot bath 20 minutes before lunch and start taking care of your feet shortly afterwards during the break. Or you do it before the end of the day, if the given break is incredibly short. Incidentally, when it comes to cold feet, we also recommend a hot-water bottle under your feet – or these cool heat patches that warm up themselves after opening.

Good mood with good scents

It’s always dark right now! Why shouldn’t we use this for a little romantic vibes for ourselves? For example with a fragrant scented candle or even a sea of tea lights on the windowsill. That puts you in a much better mood! Alternatively, of course, you can also use incense sticks in combination with a few pretty fairy lights. In general, you often feel better when there are various light sources that shine on you at different temperatures. Give it a try.

“Yes, the camera is somehow not that good”

It’s noticeable when you skip the camera altogether, but if you just don’t feel like getting yourself really ready, this tip might help: just press your greasy thumb on the camera and ensure blurry images and contours. Sure, you shouldn’t put extra oil in it beforehand and ruin it completely. It’s just that your image looks a little blurry and you don’t have to do as much work with your appearance. This can be a nice break for in between – or forever.

Working in bed or on the sofa

Every now and then a change of location can be good not only for creativity but also for comfort. If you have a comfortable bed, sofa or armchair that you would much rather be in right now: treat yourself! Unless you’re living in a 20-room mansion, you can always switch back to your original workspace in a matter of seconds (if you need to for some reason).
