Well maybe it’s a sequence from the film The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese. In this story, Billy (DiCaprio) is an undercover cop in Costello’s (Jack Nicholson) gang, who himself placed a mole, Colin, in the police department (Matt Damon).
Filmed with millimeter power, The Departed offers a very rhythmic gangster story in which the 2h30 are perfectly used, the interpretations carried by the young guard of Hollywood against the veteran Nicholson. A meeting at the top that electrifies this violent and deadly thriller, which does not forget the psychology of its characters on the way.

In one of the film’s last scenes, Billy takes aim at Colin after realizing that he works for Costello. Together they take the elevator. The floors go by slowly, Colin tries to dissuade Billy from delivering him to justice, in vain. The elevator finally reaches the ground floor, the door opens, and Billy suddenly takes a bullet to the head, collapsing dead across the door.
This shocking death is caused by Barrigan (James Badge Dale), a member of the police who we learn then that he was also infiltrated on behalf of Costello. He was obviously waiting for Billy to take him down, and didn’t miss his target.
The killer was off-screen, the death of DiCaprio’s character is all the more crazy and striking for the viewer, who until then had expected that the good right triumphs. We salute for this the brilliant staging of Martin Scorsese and the audacious scenario of William Monahan (who will find DiCaprio on Lies of State).
