this big film of the year pushes absolutely all limits

One of the biggest Netflix films of the year, which is a monumental hit, destroys all barriers and promises a resounding comeback. Unheard of according to its creator.

Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video each play their part with their own exclusives. All services share films and series that have been released for a long time, but what essentially takes precedence is the original content. And it must be admitted that the firm with the red N is a step ahead of its competitors. The company spends lavishly and has offered itself among the best-known directors in the film industry. Including a filmmaker who divides for his productions, but also certain speaking engagements.

This Netflix film will go all out

New Netflix releases are not slowing down and the releases for the week of April 15 to 21, 2024 are a good illustration of this. In addition to already (very) well-known films like The Godfather, Lady Bird, Pentagon Papers or Stop or My Mother is Going to Shoot with one of the masters of action Sylvester Stallone, the platform is preparing to add part 2 of Rebel Moon “The Slasher”. A sequel which should be in line with the previous episode, and which will inevitably further divide the public. But even with negative reviews, it should be a hit, which is (unfortunately) the most important thing for Netflix.

In parallel with Rebel Moon Part 2: The Slasher, Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) is preparing a long version of each film. If things don’t change by then, no less than 6 hours of viewing await you. But if we put aside the length of feature films, it is above all the tone that will change. Expect an avalanche of sex and violence for R-Rated versions. Who do we say thank you? Thank you Netflix and Uncle Snyder!

“It’s like another movie. During filming, we filmed the actors speaking different lines of dialogue. […] We knew what we were filming was for an R-Rated release. The tone changes a lot because it’s more exaggerated and intentionally over-the-top in terms of sex and violence.” told Zack Snyder at Unilad.

Rebel Moon Director’s Cut, extreme violence and sex

The long versions of Rebel Moon – which will be released on Netflix perhaps this summer – will therefore be completely different films and which should never have existed in their current state according to Snyder. For the director, the violence is so heightened that it makes these Director’s Cuts anomalies in the SF landscape.

“The violence is so crazy that you think it’s something that shouldn’t exist in a sci-fi film of this magnitude”. Zack Snyder finally happy with the edits of his latest project? Hooray, because until very recently, the director made a new release which he kept secret. He still half-heartedly regretted his Sucker Punch. Not the studio of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but the feature film with young women in sexy outfits and which completely borrows video game grammar.

The only movie I would change is Sucker Punch, because it was never really finished well. Even the Director’s Cut isn’t actually the right edit. This is just a longer version. If I had the chance, I would fix this movie. I’ve already shot the footage, they just have to let me edit it. We ask from time to time, and then we have to ask again. I think there should be a period where no one has the film.

Zack Snyder is therefore still not in phase with the existing versions of Sucker Punch. A complaint that we hear very often from him, but yet he systematically accepts new financing for his productions. So is everything really going well with Netflix and will Rebel Moon Director’s Cut be his dream project? For the moment, yes, but we should not rule out a declaration to the contrary in several months. Until then, see you on April 19, 2024 on Netflix for Rebel Moon Part 2: The Slasher.
