This electric “super-SUV” promises to recharge in just 10 minutes

The Drako Dragon, that’s its name, will not arrive until 2026, but its technical sheet is already chilling with breathtaking performances at all levels.

Yet another incredible electric car but without a future? Only time will tell, but it is clear that the model presented by Drako, the Dragon, is already making a very strong impression given the figures announced.

Let’s say that this model, however, has a much better chance of succeeding than the many electric cars presented a few years ago from obscure manufacturers who, today, do not really give any news. The Drako Dragon should arrive in 2026 and has electric supercars like the Rimac Nevera or the future Tesla Roadster in its sights.

Numbers that make you dizzy

The spec sheet is impressive. This model is twice as powerful as the most powerful Lotus Eletre or the Tesla Model X Plaid. With no less than 2,000 hp under the hood, this 2.2 ton SUV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 secondscover the 0 to 400 meters standing start in just 9 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 320 km/h.

The power is quite incredible, that of recharging too. The Dragon can accept charging power of up to 500 kW and pass like this from 10 to 80% in 10 minutes. This gives it 540 km of autonomy in the space of this period of time, since the American EPA certification cycle (more rigorous than the European WLTP) has announced that this model can travel up to 676km with a load.

Currently in Europe, the fastest charging station in the world and open to the public delivers a maximum power of 400 kW. By 2026, things will no doubt have changed. Nio, for example, is working on the implementation of charging terminals allowing, precisely, to recharge up to 500 kW.

A new “in-house” platform

Above, we told you that this model was more likely to succeed than others. This is indeed the case, since the Dragon is based on the powertrain of the Drako GTE (a model derived from the Fisker Karma and designed in 25 copies), a 1,200 hp electric sedan with four electric motors.

The Drako DriveOS technological platform is based on a kind of “super computer” which manages all the characteristics of the car. This was developed by the start-up itself. From infotainment and navigation to battery management and driving aids, everything is processed in nanoseconds.

Ready to board the family

The Dragon is 5.05 meters long, 2.05 meters wide and 1.60 meters high. Ground clearance varies from 16 to 31 cm depending on the driving mode. In addition to the LED lights, the Dragon has additional optics installed on the roof to improve visibility in difficult driving conditions. To reduce its weight and carbon footprint, several body parts are made from natural fibers and recycled plastic.

Inside, we find many elements in leather and carbon fiber. On the dashboard, Drako has integrated a huge 17.1-inch screen from which it is possible to manage infotainment and all driving modes. In front of the driver, there is a digital instrument cluster with configurable graphics, while the few physical cockpit controls (turn signals, wipers, lights, etc.) are all located on the steering wheel, somewhat like a Ferrari.

Are we ready to see a Drako Dragon arrive on our roads? The answer is no, since the model will not arrive before 2026. It will be manufactured in the United States, and the annual production seems ambitious, since Drako announces that 5,000 units will leave the factory every year. If you are motivated, patient and rich enough, Drako has already opened the pre-order phase. The price is not final, but Drako indicated that it should be around €280,000.

Electric supercar craze: the most powerful models

800, 900, 1000, 1500 or even more than 2000 horsepower, the rise of 100% electric cars has also allowed the arrival of new super sports cars from another world. For the most part inaccessible to ordinary mortals,…
