Meta is rolling out a big update for Facebook Messenger. Many of you have been waiting for some of the new features now available for a long time.
The company Meta, which is behind the social network Facebook, has announced some big and small updates for its in-house messenger service Facebook Messenger. Above all, probably the most important update that many have been waiting for a long time: end-to-end encryption.
In the future, all messages will be provided with end-to-end encryption as standard, so that no one other than the sender and recipient can read the messages. The update represents an important step because both the WhatsApp messenger service, which also belongs to the Meta company, and the majority of competing messenger services already have such encryption.
End-to-end encryption and more
You can now also edit messages that have already been sent, send self-deleting messages and hide the “Read” function. There are also some changes for voice messages, so voice messages can now be listened to at 1.5 or 2x speed. The update will be rolled out in the coming days.
