We told you about the all-new Mahle X30 engine earlier this week. To finally see a concrete application, no need to wait, because the Bianchi e-Oltre already integrates the German engine manufacturer’s system, reveals to us eBikeNews. This electric road bike seeks above all to be one of the lightest e-bikes on the market.

A featherweight electric road bike

At only 11 kg – thanks to the Velomann Plutonium carbon frame, fork and wheels – the weight is close to that of a mechanical bike. This lightness can also be attributed to the electric assistance, because the Mahle X30 motor with a torque of 40 Nm – housed in the rear wheel – weighs only 1.9 kg.

It is associated with a 250 Wh battery fixed in the frame, also light, weighing around 1.7 kg. The Italian brand communicates 90 km of autonomy, a very variable figure on this type of VAE. The Bianchi Oltre can accommodate an extra battery and leaves the choice of Shimano transmission. Depending on taste, it is possible to integrate the 105 mechanics, the Dura-Ace Di2 or Ultegra Di2 electronics, all with 12 speeds.

On the other hand, the weight increases to 11.5 kg in Ultegra and 12 kg on the Shimano 105 version. This electric bike also accommodates Vittoria Rubino V wheels, Shimano RT86 brakes and Velomann components (saddle, stem, handlebars).

A Bianchi e-Oltre very scalable price

The Bianchi e-Oltre is cheaper than it seems, because it starts at 4,949 euros with Shimano 105 transmission. The Ultegra Di2 version goes up to 6,399 euros and 9,849 euros with Dura-Ace Di2. On the other hand, it is difficult to justify the presence of a rear hub at this price (that of almost 10,000 euros). We would clearly have preferred to have a central motor, which has the advantage of better distributing the overall weight and avoiding the propulsion effect sometimes felt with a hub motor.

For those who would like to obtain the Mahle X30 system, the Stevens brand also has the first on electric fitness bikes, such as the E-Strada.
