The first images of the Nintendo Switch 2 are circulating on the web. But should we believe this new leak on the next Big N console or is it a huge scam?
By dint of appearing in the “Rumors” category for weeks, it is time for the Nintendo Switch 2 to be formalized to put an end to the many more or less credible rumors. Because recently, the console was even mentioned by Microsoft during an audit for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The American firm has indeed hinted that Nintendo was going to resume its concept of a hybrid machine.
And for the past few hours, it’s been a leak of a whole different magnitude that has made people react. The first pictures of the Nintendo Switch 2 would have leaked. Really ?

Now that Sony and Microsoft have released their next-gen console, everyone’s eyes are on Big N and its Nintendo Switch 2. An absolutely unofficial name, but for lack of a better name, it’s the most telling name. But this silence, basically quite normal since it is up to the manufacturer to estimate the right time to reveal its next console, fuels rumors and leaks.
And precisely, it turns out that the first images of the Nintendo Switch 2 would have been revealed in advance. Not through the Japanese company, but through a leak. The pictures, visible below, show several things. First, the company would have chosen to keep the current name, adding a simple “2”. Secondly, there would no longer be a dock but rather a more discreet base which would be connected to the TV. Finally, thirdly, the Joy-Con concept would still be in the game, but with modifications. They seem to be housed inside a support for better maneuverability.
Once we have commented on all this, unfortunately we have to explain to you that this is just a huge fake. The fact that Big N calls its console Nintendo Switch 2 is already a clue in itself. Then, the design of the machine and its controllers smack of something tinkered with “in a hurry” to make a fake. Even if we can recognize a minimum of effort provided. Besides, these images would come from the Famiboards forums, and there, they are sold as mockups. An artist’s vision of a product that still does not exist.
Fans laugh and get angry
On Twitter, this fake Nintendo Switch 2 leak irritates as much as it entertains. “If you’re over 13 and really think this is a Switch 2 leak, you should be placed on an FBI watchlist” can we read. “I am already tired of so many horrible leaks” another person exclaims. While the majority point out the absurdity of the whole thing, others poke fun at it with their own images of the Nintendo Switch 2. Watch out!
This first fake leak may be the first of a very long series, but some may be more impressive than others. Remember the one that was created by a Frenchman for the Nintendo NX – the code name for the Switch. According to journalist Jeff Grubb, the Nintendo Switch 2 could be announced in late 2023 or early 2024, with a launch next year.
Hongzhun, a structure belonging to the Hon Hai Technology group (Foxconn) which manufactures metal boxes, said that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be available in early 2024. But beware, it would be released during the next fiscal year, so from April 2024 only. If Hongzhun seems so knowledgeable, it’s because the manufacturer has accepted an order for Big N’s console. That’s what the company said anyway.
