A week after making the event with an additional investigation devoted to the host and producer Cyril Hanouna, the France 2 program once again aroused keen interest with a new program on Gérard Depardieu.

Followed by 1.52 million viewers at 11 p.m. (18.5% audience share)the show’s summary was to investigate “on the excesses of a sacred monster“.

To watch the show in replay

The France 2 show team has collected numerous testimonies, but does not hide the fact that it has had difficulty getting the French cinema world to talk. Aside from Gérard Jugnot and Julie Gayet seized on the fly during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, only two producers agreed to speak.

First of all Marc Missonnier (who recently produced the successful film Le Consentement, adapted from the shocking story by Vanessa Springora): “We are all a little guilty. I think there was a tolerance which was a mistake“, he says.

The other producer interviewed in the show is Jean-Louis Livi, also agent and friend of Gérard Depardieu. He is the guest of the famous red armchairs of the show, in order to “say [ses] some truths“.

Gérard Depardieu having refused to come on the show, we hear him for a few seconds on the phone, captured without his knowledge. The show’s team also tried to see him at his home, without success.

The program also gives the floor to several victims, some for the first time. Marylène Andrin (stage manager on Diamant 13), the actress Charlotte Arnould (who filed a complaint against Gérard Depardieu, and which led to him being indicted for rape and sexual assault in 2022) or even Sarah Brooks (actress on the series Marseille) .

Hélène Darras, actress in the film Disco in 2007, also gives her testimony. She has since filed a complaint, which is the 2nd complaint against the actor.

In addition to these testimonies, two moments particularly caught the attention of spectators. These are previously unpublished images from a documentary project with Yann Moix, which was abandoned. The images show many “skids” from the actor, making gritty remarks.

These images filmed in North Korea date back to 2018 and have never been shown to date.

We see the actor there “freewheeling“, as the commentary in Complément d’investigation puts it. Since then, Yann Moix has announced that he was going to file a complaint against the producer who sold these images, without his agreement, as revealed by Le Figaro and The Parisian.

It was my producer who gave the rushes of my shoot without warning“, he explains to Le Figaro. “His name is Anthony Dufour. I will file a complaint against him“.

Le Parisien specifies that “Yann Moix had chosen never to broadcast his film due to a conflict between him and his producer” And “that the feature film was “politically incorrect”“. And Yann Moix added: “There is a trial by sentence over two and a half hours.”

Another strong sequence in this documentary concerns statements from the past. Additional investigation returns to a controversy which took place in the United States in 1991. An interview dating back to 1978 was unearthed, in which Gérard Depardieu said he had participated in rapes in his youth.

I’ve had lots of rapes, too many to count“. And added: “There was nothing wrong with that. The girls wanted to be raped. Well, it’s not really about rape, it’s just the story of a girl who puts herself in a situation that she likes. Violence is not committed by those who act, but by the victims, those who allow it to happen“.

Complementary investigation sought to get a reaction from the American journalist who had collected these comments at the time, but without success.

Since the broadcast of the show, BFM TV got actresses Ariane Labed and Clotilde Hesme to react. “Impunity towards people like this, if it remains total, is a real problem for the victims of a system“, said Clotilde Hesme.

Once again, it is the tree that hides the forest. It is a system of impunity and the silence of those involved in this profession is deafening.” “The word has been loosened and people are speaking but we cannot yet say that people are really being listened to.“, considers Ariane Labed.

Director Fabien Onteniente also reacted to the broadcast of the show. The director of Disco declared at the microphone of franceinfo (via the Huffington Post) “not having spotted anything on camera, but that his casting director had warned him about Gérard Depardieu’s behavior with women”, reports the media. He says he no longer wants to film with Gérard Depardieu. “I didn’t fall out of the wardrobe“. And added: “It’s not in my values, it’s not possible to turn a blind eye to this kind of unacceptable behavior“.

For the record, Gérard Depardieu has been indicted since December 2020 for “rape and sexual assault” following a complaint from actress Charlotte Arnould. He is accused of sexual violence by 15 other women. The actor recently published an open letter. He announced that he had put his career on hold.
