As a fan of the strategy game, you are currently not threatened with an attack by an enemy clan, but rather by hackers. As security researchers from Cybernews have revealed, a Firebase database and thus sensitive data were exposed. 100,000 users are potentially at risk.
This allows cybercriminals to delete your Clash of Clans account data, losing all progress and making the app unusable. What’s far worse, however, is that attackers can use an exposed URL to gain access to your text files, databases, backups, images and videos.
Fortunately, it is not the Clash of Clans app that is affected by this data leak, but rather the third-party application Clash Base Designer, Easy copy from the manufacturer Riot Apps. This is a basic layout of the Clash of Clans maps that can be integrated into the main game and used to collect trophies.
You should immediately delete Clash Base Designer, Easy copy from your smartphone and link your Clash of Clans account to the Supercell ID so that a backup can be created. The affected app has now been removed from the Google Play Store. It never existed for iOS.
