Robert Maudsley, one of Britain’s most brutal killers, has asked to see other people for Christmas, but to no avail. He is considered too dangerous and has to stay in a 5.5 by 4.5 meter glass cell for the rest of his days.

  • England’s most notorious serial killer, Robert Maudsley, does not get out of his glass cell from solitary confinement even after 38 years.

  • The “real Hannibal Lecter” had submitted another request after 2000 to be allowed to see people.

  • Now he will have to stay in his cell until death – he will no longer have the opportunity to seek mercy.

Maudsley has a reputation for being an extremely violent man in his home country. A book called “The Real Hannibal Lecter” was also written about him – because the rumor is wrong to this day that he should have eaten parts of one of his victims.

It is not without reason that Maudsley has been in solitary confinement for almost 40 years. Because he killed three of his four victims behind bars. The Liverpool man, who himself experienced massive violence from his father as a child, killed the men because they had molested children. He committed his first murder at the age of 21 in 1974 on a worker who had shown him photos of child pornography. In doing so, he prepared his victim in such a way that he “could no longer be recognized as a person”. Maudsley was serving as a stick boy at the time of the crime.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and transferred to Broadmoor Hospital, a high-security facility for mentally disturbed criminals. There he locked himself and a second inmate in a cell in 1977 together with the later victim David Francis – the two tortured the convicted pedosexual to death for hours.

Maudsley was then transferred to Wakefield Maximum Security Prison. In 1978 he lured a fellow inmate into his cell and cut his throat. He then sneaked to another inmate in another cell and killed the man with blunt force on the head.

Relocated to a glass cell

Following this last act of violence, Maudsley was transferred to solitary confinement in 1983. A cell made of bulletproof glass was specially made for him under the prison so that he could watch him. He receives his food through a sluice, and six officers take him out of the glass case for the hour-long walk through a locked corridor.

In 2000 he wrote to the press asking for a CD player and classical music, a television and a canary, among other things. Alternatively, he asked for a potassium cyanide capsule so that he could kill himself. The request was rejected.

Now he recently made a new request for relief from prison, as reported by the Daily Star: According to an insider, he wanted to spend Christmas in the company of other inmates. When this was also rejected, he appealed – again to no avail. “The prison administration considers it simply too dangerous,” the insider continued. “You can’t take the risk.”
