Three people injured – large-scale operation at the Achensee after a head-on collision

Yesterday, three people were seriously injured in a devastating head-on collision between two cars on Achensee-Strasse in the Eben area. A Serb (69) had got into the opposite lane for an unexplained cause.

On Sunday around 3:15 p.m., a 55-year-old Austrian drove his car on Achensee Strasse coming from Achenkirch in the direction of Maurach. He took his wife (55-year-old Austrian) with him in the passenger seat. At the same time, a 69-year-old Serb was driving his car alone in that direction.

Car spun from the force of the impact
At the height of “Hechenberg” the Serb came to the left side of the lane for a previously unknown cause and hit the 55-year-old Austrian’s oncoming car. Due to the force of the collision, the 69-year-old Serb’s car was turned 180 degrees and came to a standstill on the lane in the direction of Achenkirch, severely damaged on the edge of the road.

Vehicle occupants freed with rescue shears
All three occupants were trapped in the vehicles and seriously injured as a result of the collision. Uninvolved drivers make the emergency call and provide first aid until the rescue services arrive. The trapped people may be freed from their vehicles and rescued by the voluntary fire brigades Eben aA., Achenkirch and Jenbach. After initial treatment by the emergency doctors, the 69-year-old driver was taken to the hospital in Innsbruck by an emergency helicopter, the 55-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital in Schwaz by means of NAH and the 55-year-old driver was taken to the hospital in Schwaz by ambulance.
