Mozilla is currently working on a major overhaul of the interface of Thunderbird. Here is today an overview of the changes to come for the calendar part.

Thunderbird is getting a well-deserved makeover
Complete and flexible, the free Thunderbird email client is however not the most welcoming or intuitive when it comes to its interface. Aging and austere despite recent updates, the email management service could benefit from a real new start. This is what should offer him, in 2023, an update soberly called “Supernova”.
The announced objective of this one: to modernize the interface and bring new features, such as Firefox Sync. What, we imagine, synchronize Thunderbird on computer and Android, when K-9 Mail will become Thunderbird. While waiting for a more precise date, Mozilla has decided to show a preview of part of what awaits users in this update.
Refresh for the calendar
No question yet to see the changes for the email part, since it is for the moment question of the calendar. Often decried, it is actively under construction and the screenshots provided by Mozilla are only models. As always, there will be many options regarding the content and form of the calendar so that everyone can adapt their experience to their needs.
Among the features of this new calendar, Mozilla cites for example the possibility of hiding/deleting the weekend columns (not necessarily the Saturday/Sunday couple for that matter). Icons and colors can also be changed or even deleted, while classic views by month, week or day are there.
The toolbar will also be customizable, while new keyboard shortcuts will be available to increase efficiency. It is also with this optimization in mind that the events search engine, boosted with filters, moves to the right panel. The event sheets, moreover, are also being modernized. The main information (place, organizer, people present, etc.) is more visible there.
Finally, if by default it will take two clicks to reach the editing of an event, the options will allow you to do it in one and skip this preview.
