Netflix again promises “chaos and madness”: The streaming service confirms the rumors about the second season of the cult documentary “Tiger King”.

Now it’s official: Netflix has announced a second season of the hit series “Tiger King”. As announced by the streaming service on Twitter, the surprise success continues. There will be as much “chaos and madness” as in the first season. The new episodes should be broadcast this year.

In an official Youtube video, announcing several Netflix originals, the first scenes of “Tiger King 2” can already be seen. For months there have been rumors about a sequel. A few weeks ago an entry was published on the Netflix website for a few hours that announced a second season. The post has now been deleted.

An NBC miniseries is also in the works

The eight episodes of the documentary “Tiger King: Big Cats and Their Predators” so far became a popular culture hype in 2020. 64 million Netflix user accounts watched the series in the first four weeks alone. In the documentary, a camera team accompanies the eccentric and private zoo operator Joe Exotic, known as “Tiger King”. At the end of the series, a court sentenced Exotic to 22 years in prison for attempting contract killing. He’s serving the sentence to this day.

Parallel to the documentary sequel, the US broadcaster NBC is currently working on a fictional implementation of the protagonist’s extraordinary life story. In the planned miniseries US actor John Cameron Mitchell (58) slips into the role of Exotic. His opponent Carole Baskin (60) embodies the comedian Kate McKinnon (37).
