GIFs have not said their last word. While they are still crying recent death of their creator Stephen Wilhite, animated images are considered “boomer stuff” among millennials.
And yet, their favorite social network is teaming up with Giphy to launch a new video creation tool called Library.
A video creation tool with GIFs
Tiktok is welcoming a new GIF-focused feature. Thanks to a partnership with Giphy, the largest search engine for images of this format and memes, users of the social network will be able to access clips and animated images with or without sound. The GIFs can then be embedded into TikTok videos.
In a press release, Giphy explains that this will unlock “ a new category of entertainment content for users to comment, debate and parody. This allows more creators to participate or start their own trends “.
This library should grow over time with more sources, audio, sounds, text templates and partnerships. “Giphy Clips” are indeed used by television channels, film studios, SVoD platforms, video game developers, and sports clubs to share licensed content on the platform.
