Til Schweiger: Actor criticizes handling of corona demos

Til Schweiger criticizes the handling of the corona demons in Berlin. It wasn't just "Nazis or aluminum hats" that took to the streets.

Filmmaker Til Schweiger (56) criticizes the blanket discrediting of the demonstrators at the Corona protests in Berlin. "What I don't like is that the people who demonstrate (…) are simply referred to as Nazis or aluminum hats," he told the "Rheinische Post".

Instead, completely different people took to the streets in his eyes. "I was not in Berlin myself, but many local friends told me that they hadn't seen a single Nazi in the seven hours. There were probably some, but they didn't see any. The absolute majority of the demonstrators were families, grandmas, Grandpas, children, "said Schweiger.

When asked that many participants in the demo in Berlin at the end of August did not wear mouth and nose protection, Schweiger said: "Well, they didn't wear a mask – I probably would have." At the "Black Lives Matter" demonstrations, nobody would have worn a face mask and it was okay. "These demonstrators were celebrated. But if other people stand up for their basic rights or question certain measures, they are defamed. You measure with two standards," criticized Schweiger.
