Timothée Chalamet magician + Hugh Grant lilliputian: is this the most anticipated film of the end of the year?

On December 13, Timothée Chalamet will kick off the Christmas holidays at the cinema with “Wonka”, a prequel to “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” for which the new trailer has been revealed.

If Christmas is synonymous with treats for you, the festivities will begin on December 13 in French cinemas. Or the release day of Wonka, prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory directed by Paul King (Paddington 1 and 2) and worn by Timothée Chalamet, who succeeds Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp in the role created by Roald Dahl.

Just two months into its arrival on our screens, the feature film reveals a little more of its magic. And its casting. In addition to Timothée Chalamet and Hugh Grant, in a role of Oompa-Loompa which fits him like a glove and allows him to express his humor, we will find Rowan Atkinson and Oscar winner Olivia Colman as well as Sally Hawkins or Keegan-Michael Key .

Without forgetting Jim Carter from Downton Abbey, or Mathew Baynton, from the very funny English series Ghosts with his friend Simon Farnaby, actor and co-writer of Wonka.

A sweet origin story with musical accents, which will mix magic, chocolate and colors. With, we imagine, the kindness and humor already at work in the Paddingtons.

Warner Bros. Pictures

Featuring songs written and composed by Neil Hannon of The National, and sung by Timothée Chalamet himself, Wonka seems to have all the necessary ingredients to become THE Christmas movie in theaters worldwide

As it stands, it makes us want chocolate, to hum this tune from the 1971 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sung by Hugh Grant at the end of this trailer. And to see a little more, with a first extract from a musical number for example.

See you a month before the release of this film which could have been impacted by the writers’ and actors’ strikes but will ultimately be there, as planned, for the holidays?
