Tints | BRIGITTE.de

New color? No problem with washable tints. In front of the beauty shelf, however, the question arises: what is a tint, what is a permanent color?

What is a tint?

Tinting is the lightest form of color treatment. No matter whether as foam, gel or fluid, it only colors the hair in the outer cuticle layer. Tints are ideal for experimenting with color, refreshing colored hair or deepening the natural tone. Whether red, brown, blonde or black: they are available in almost all hair colors. It doesn't lighten or cover gray hair. In contrast to a correct coloring, the color pigments of a tint are released from the hair after only a few weeks. After six to nine washes, the tone fades. In the trade you can recognize a tint by the label "shelf life level 1", "level 1" or "group 1".

Hair tint: the right care

To ensure that the tint lasts as long as possible, you should pay attention to the right hair care. This includes the use of a mild shampoos and the regular use of one Conditioners. When purchasing the products, make sure that they are especially suitable for colored hair. Incidentally, many manufacturers also differentiate between products for blonde, brown or red hair. If you want to refresh the color in between, it is best to use a hair mask with color pigments. This means that the color often withstands more hair washes than usual.

Tone hair yourself? How the color change works:

  1. The preparation: If you want to tint the hair yourself, the action should always take place in the well-lit bathroom. It is best to put on an old T-shirt, because even beginners can sometimes have a splash of color on it. You should also have the following things ready: disposable gloves, Plastic comb for even distribution of the tint, Plastic hair clips (for clamping individual lots) and a clock. This helps to adhere to the times in the package insert – and this is very important for a perfect look.
  2. Here we go: How to tint your hair step-by-step is often described exactly on the package of the product and can vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. In general, however, the following applies: wet your hair, gently terry with a towel, Disposable gloves coat and spread the color evenly from the roots to the tips. Whether you use your fingers or a comb is a matter of taste. Pin longer hair with plastic hair clips.
  3. Also important: Do not throw away the gloves after applying the paint. They are also required when frothing at the end of the procedure. If the pair has become unusable, you can of course also use a second, new pair of gloves.

Tint: You should know that!

Hair tints, which can be purchased in stores, differ between soft tints, with the imprint "durability level 1", "group 1" or "Level 1" and the intensive tints. These have the label "shelf life level 2", "group 2" or "Level 2" and permanently dye the hair. Among other things, they contain hydrogen peroxide so that their dyes not only accumulate, but can also develop and anchor in the hair. After 15 to 24 washes, they become paler, but do not wash out completely. That means an approach remains visible. Anyone who wants to try out a new hair color and is still unsure should be careful with an intensive tint. Color accidents are difficult to hide.

But Intense tints also have advantages: they have a gray coverage in the hair of up to 50 percent. The hair becomes two shades darker or lighter. By the way: Everything that bears the "Level 3" label is a permanent hair color, so it belongs to the coloration and has to grow out. This also applies to the Herbal hair color henna.

Danger: A strong rain shower can take color from freshly tinted hair – so don't forget your umbrella during the transition period. Pigments are also washed out when swimming; Protect swimming caps.
