You want to install a specific version of Windows 11 on your machine, but without all the unnecessary programs from Microsoft? Tiny11 Builder can probably help you.

You may know Tiny11, this unofficial Windows 11 system image which allows you to install the new Microsoft OS by limiting software dependencies. Well, the developer behind this project has unveiled a new program: Tiny11 Builder. This simple script allows you to install any version of the system while taking up as little space as possible on your hard drive.

What is Tiny11 Builder for?

Tiny11 Builder differentiates itself from its cousin Tiny11 by actually being a script that allows you to easily install any version of Windows 11 (Education, Pro, Home, etc.), even those dedicated to the ARM architecture. Rather than downloading a specific Tiny11 image to install on your machine, this script allows you to create installation media for any version of Windows 11 in just a few clicks. All with the same advantages as Tiny11, that is to say the absence of “additional” software such as OneDrive, Edge, Office or Microsoft mapping software.

Tiny11 Builder isn’t exactly new in fact, the program has been around for many months, but hasn’t received any updates for over a year. NTDEV, the person behind the project, explained that this delay allowed him to take full advantage of the new capabilities of the Powershell console, now much more comfortable with complex scripts. Once the script and the files needed to run it are downloaded, all you have to do is answer a few simple questions in a command prompt and the software will spit out an ISO image for you which you can then install on your machine.

How to use Tiny11 Builder?

Installing and running Tiny11 Builder is no rocket science. You must first download the “muti-edition” image of Windows 11 from the Microsoft site then mount it on your system (with a simple double-click). Then run the command “Set-ExecutionPolicy unrestricted» in a Powershell window with administrator privileges then launch the script itself (available on GitHub). Once you have chosen your version, the program will run for a few minutes before creating your custom system image.

To avoid spoiling anything, the installation media, like each version of Tiny11, bypasses the obligation to add your Microsoft account to Windows 11. Enough to offer an easy and quick way to deploy Windows 11 on your machine without any program or no unnecessary features. Everything is open source, if you also want to look at what’s going on under the hood.

On weekends I torture Raspberry Pis with lots of 'sudo' commands to relax.
