The US Navy had detected a noise characteristic of an implosion five days before the official loss of the Titan. The US Navy transmitted the information, but without being certain that it was proof of the loss of the submersible. The system used, top secret, is usually used to detect enemy submarines.
There was no happy epilogue for the Titan Private Submarine. During the day of June 22, Titan debris was found near the wreck of the Titanic, and their study showed that it corresponds to the submersible. If the loss of the Titan was formalized in the process, it appears that the US Navy had identified as early as June 18 an acoustic signature resembling an implosion noise. However, this underwater noise had been considered “not definitive” – there were other false positives identified during the research. The information was however transmitted to the commanders in charge of the emergency management, in order to effectively reduce the search area – which was all the same about 20,000 km², i.e. twice the area of Ile-de-France. .

A top secret device to spot enemy submarines
The sound anomaly was precisely identified by a “top secret” system, also specifies the media across the Atlantic. These are the hardest to find.
