Apparently Tom Hanks almost flew into space with Jeff Bezos. But it failed at around $ 28 million.

Houston, we have a money problem: a long time before William Shatner (90) aka Captain Kirk became the oldest space tourist in space history, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (57) apparently knocked on another celebrity. Visiting Jimmy Kimmel (53) revealed Tom Hanks (65), that Bezos would have liked to have him by his side when the multi-billionaire himself used the services of his company Blue Origin in mid-July 2021 and traveled into space. There was only one catch to the generous offer, according to Hanks: “He wanted me to pay for it myself.”

Tom Hanks pays “less than 28 million bucks” for “twelve-minute flight”

Hanks, who was allowed to travel to space on the big screen in 1995 thanks to his film “Apollo 13”, immediately waved him off. “It would have cost $ 28 million or something to get the hang of it. I’m good in business, Jimmy, I’m good in business. But I’m not paying 28 million bucks,” joked Hanks. Especially not for a space adventure that is “about a twelve-minute flight”.

Instead of Hanks, Bezos jetted into space on July 20 this year with his brother Mark (51), US pilot Wally Funk (82) and 18-year-old Oliver Daemen. His father had bought the seat in the space capsule – apparently after Hanks’ rejection – at an auction.
