Tonight on TV: Tom Cruise’s Most Memorable Stunt (until the next one)!

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Ethan Hunt versus the Syndicate.

In 2015, Tom Cruise reunited with director Christopher McQuarrie, who previously directed him on Jack Reacher, for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. This fifth installment in the spy franchise features Ethan Hunt’s investigation into the mysterious organization of the Syndicate.

Since the previous opus, Ghost Protocol, the saga has continued to push its limits and those of its headliner, eager to perform the craziest stunts themselves. After climbing the tallest tower in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, with his bare hands, Tom Cruise demonstrates that he is still in great shape in this new installment.

From the opening scene of Rogue Nation, Tom Cruise dazzles by clinging to a plane taking off. Performed without special effects, this extremely risky feat involved the actor being suspended at an altitude of more than 1,500 meters, securely attached thanks to the cables connected to his harness. The aircraft, an Airbus A400m, was traveling at a speed of 400km/h.

In order for the director to have something to do during the editing, Tom Cruise thus braved, on eight occasions, the wind which whipped his face, or even the temperature which dropped more and more as the device gained height.

Also directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the next installment in the saga, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Parie 1, which lands on the big screen in France in ten days, promises us incredible new stunts!
