Too much fresh snow – ski race in the World Cup venue Saalbach postponed

Two European Cup Super-Gs were actually planned in Saalbach-Hinterglemm for Tuesday and Wednesday. But large amounts of fresh snow throw a wrench into the schedule.

The state of Salzburg is “suffering” from “ski fever” these days! The two World Cup events in Zauchensee (January 12th to 14th) and Flachau (night slalom on January 16th) will be complemented by two European Cup events. Before two women’s slaloms (Friday and Saturday) take place in Zell am See, the start takes place in Saalbach with two super-Gs. The start of the two races in Saalbach would have been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. But today, on Monday morning, it was already clear: the schedule is untenable! The community of the 2025 World Ski Championships can look forward to lots of fresh snow. “60 centimeters were added at the top,” reports host Bartl Gensbichler. Which is why the schedule was changed slightly. The first run, in which some local riders will also take part, will now take place on Wednesday. The second follows the next day. But this probably won’t combat “ski fever”. It doesn’t have to.
