TotalEnergies: mission entrusted to JC Rufin in Mozambique

(CercleFinance.com) – TotalEnergies announces that it has entrusted Jean-Christophe Rufin, a recognized figure in humanitarian action, with an independent mission to assess the humanitarian situation in the province of Cabo Delgado, where its Mozambique LNG project is located.

The French group holds a 26.5% interest in this project, the first onshore development of an LNG plant in Mozambique, which includes the development of the Golfinho and Atum fields as well as the construction of two liquefaction trains.

On April 26, 2021, given the evolution of the security situation in the north of Cabo Delgado province, Mozambique LNG decided to withdraw all project personnel from the Afungi site.

The mission entrusted to Jean-Christophe Rufin will assess the actions taken by Mozambique LNG and will, if necessary, propose additional actions. A report will be submitted at the end of February to assess whether the conditions are met for a resumption of project activities.
