New week and new predictions for the FIFA 23 TOTW 1 Team of the Week. As usual, EA will offer new IF cards based on the results of the best professional players from the past week. For the moment, the TOTW (IF) card system seems to be the same as last year with a Featured card (highlighted) as well as fairly standard boosts depending on the level of the card. We therefore present to you our predictions for the new cards which will be available in the packs from Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Note : The FIFA 23 web application should arrive on Wednesday September 21, which will allow players to open packs and thus justify the arrival of TOTW 1 this week.
Guardians of Week 1 Team
Rafal Gikiewicz, Augsburg, Bundesliga
What a game for Augsburg who managed to beat Bayern Munich 1-0. This surprise victory is due in particular to goalkeeper Rafal Giekiewicz, author of a great game. The Polish goalkeeper made several high-class saves and allowed the German club to take valuable points from the start of the season.
Jeremias Ledesma, Cadiz, La Liga
After a more than difficult start to the season (5 losses in a row), Cadiz scored their first points of the 2022 financial year with a 1-0 victory against Valladolid. If Negredo, the scorer, was our initial choice, the performance of Ledesma is to be highlighted with 6 saves.
Defender Predictions
Armando Izzo, Monza, Serie A
It’s a Team of the Week marked by the unexpected results that seems to start this season of FIFA 23. Proof of this is Monza’s victory against Juventus, yet one of the favorites for the title in the Italian championship. If he did not contribute in the only goal of the meeting, the defender was elected the Man of the match.
William Saliba, Arsenal, Premier League
What a start to the season for William Saliba! The French player has truly established himself as one of Arsenal’s best players at the start of the season, allowing the Londoners to secure the outposts in the Premier League. The international scored another goal in the Gunners’ 3-0 victory, which should make this IF a very solid option when FIFA 23 kicks off.
Midfielders
Teji Savanier, Montpellier, Ligue 1
While the options within Ligue 1 are relatively limited for this TOTW 1, Teji Savanier stands out as an obvious choice. The French player scored a goal in addition to an assist, allowing his club to win the match against Strasbourg 2-1. With 4-5 in stars and good passing and dribbling stats, Savanier could be quite a playable card at the start of the season on FIFA 23.
Cody Gakpo, PSV, Eredivisie
The duel between Feyenoord and PSV was shaping up to be an explosive match between two favorites for the title in the Netherlands. The fans were served with 7 goals for a 4-3 win for PSV. Among the scorers, Gakpo really stood out with 1 goal and 3 assists. At 85 in overall rating and 4-4 in stars, the Dutch player could be a nice card at the start of the season.
Which Attackers in TOTW 1?
Ciro Immobile, Lazio Roma, Serie A
After a somewhat difficult start, Lazio is finally in working order, with two victories over the last two weeks. One of the engines of this team is none other than its striker Ciro Immobile. The Italian scored two goals and an assist in Cremonese’s 4-0 win. With a Gold card at 86, this TOTW could be of interest at the start of the season, while Immobile should still be collecting the special cards this year.
Heung Min Son, Tottenham, Premier League
So let’s be honest, while we were watching the game live, we already had the head to try this TOTW sound card! The Korean player was incredible, scoring three goals in just 13 minutes to secure victory for Spurs against Leicester. This should be the most wanted card in Team of the Week with notably 4-5 stars and excellent stats. Better still, this boost should make him the best Left Attacker in FIFA 23 before the arrival of new special cards.
FIFA 22 Featured Map of the Week
Pablo Maffeo, Mallorca, La Liga
One of the new features from last year, the Featured Team of the Week card is back in FIFA 23. For TOTW 1, our pick is Pablo Maffeo, the Mallorca defender. The Spanish player scored the only goal of the match against Almeira, allowing his club to win their second game of the season. A double boost would make it a viable and interesting option at the start of FIFA 23.
Cards that could appear in TOTW 1
We list here players who have a chance of appearing there but who, for various reasons should miss the selection of EA. The interest of listing these cards is to protect you from an investment point of view (see below) and thus potentially take some risks on less expected players.

How to get TOTW cards in FIFA 22?
TOTW cards are often interesting at high level but also for DCEs as well as to achieve specific objectives in friendly match mode. Therefore, even on players whose overall rating would be quite low, it is necessary to know how to get these TOTW cards on FIFA 23.
The first source is obviously the transfer market, where you can find a player’s TOTW cards in special versions of their cards. Be careful, however, because the IF cards sell for much more than the basic version. This is explained in particular by their rarity but also by the fact that the base price (in discard) is already quite high.
A second source remains gold packs of the game, which have these special cards for one week (from Wednesday to the following Wednesday at 7 p.m.). So be careful because once this week is over, it will be impossible to drop them in packs.
Additionally, Team of the Week cards are obtainable as a reward for FUTChampion (WL) depending on your ranking. If this year, the rewards could change, EA should not remove the presence of the TOTW cards. Similarly, the weekly ranking in Rivals allows to obtain TOTW cards although again, in FUT Champion mode (red).
Finally, specific TOTW Packs will be present during the season in ECDalthough the latter are often unprofitable because they are totally random.
Investments linked to TOTW predictions on FIFA 23
If the cards of the players selected in the Team of the week are often good sources of investment, it is also possible to earn credits via the TOTW. Indeed, there are several methods to speculate on the market.
Thus, the simplest and most regular is to bet on current TOTW players’ normal Gold cards. These are not present in the packs during the week, limiting the quantity of cards. If a player is looking to use these cards for DCEs or for their team, the prices can spike a lot. So buy the cards in anticipation of this rise, speculating on TOTW’s predictions. This technique is called OOP (Out of Packs, understand outside of packs) and also works for special cards in events. The more specific the card (big league, nation and rare position), the greater its potential. For example, a player like Jonathan Claus is very interesting because he is French, from Ligue 1 and on a relatively rare DD position in the Gold card. Therefore, his price in the Gold version could easily triple in OOP.
In addition, another method is to analyze future good TOTW cards and thus speculate on the cards related to them. For example, if Haaland receives a Team of the Week card, it’s likely players will be looking to incorporate him into their FUT roster. Thus, they will also seek to link this new card with other Bundesliga players, Dortmund players or even Norwegian players in order to create the best possible links. It is therefore possible to invest in cards allowing perfect links, just before the release of the new Team of the week. This technique will be useful with the release of special cards until around mid-December, before which time Team of the Week starts to look less interesting on FIFA 23.
Note that these two strategies require good anticipation of the market, but also finding the right timing. Often the cards to buy go up quickly, so you need to plan ahead who to buy. Also, this bull run won’t last long, so it’s necessary to play for a few days and quickly sell your cards.

If as often EA will seek to muddy the waters by selecting profiles a little more obscure, we are confident that the majority of the players listed above will be available as a special card on FIFA 23. As a reminder, the TOTW 1 will be officially unveiled Wednesday at 7 p.m..
