Reimer, who claims to have waived a salary of “over 50, 60 percent”, considers the players’ willingness to be decisive for the continued existence of the DEL. “You can see that it works for the clubs, and politicians have put together another Corona aid package,” he said. Daniel Hopp, head of Adler Mannheim, can understand the players’ “difficult situation”: “Athletes only have a limited amount of time in which to earn money, and our salary situation is different from that in the Bundesliga,” he said in an interview with the Stuttgarter Nachrichten / Zeitung. Hopp does not want to dare to predict what the coming season will look like at the moment.
