TRANSFORMERS

“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” can be seen as a small reboot for the sci-fi action series. But does the film stand on its own or are there already more “Transformers” sequels in the works?

Since the first live-action “Transformers” film was released in 2007, other “Transformers” films have followed with reliable regularity. Sometimes two years passed, sometimes three years, and there was even only a year between “Transformers: The Last Knight” and “Bumblebee”. After that, however, we experienced a longer “Transformers” break, although “Bumblebee” was actually very well received by the fans.

“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” was finally released in 2023 – a reboot set between “Bumblebee” and “Transformers”. Although the film is not the “Bumblebee” sequel that some were hoping for, Paramount Pictures learned from past mistakes and ensured that “Rise of the Beasts” does not become an endless battle of material, as is often the case in Michael Bay’s films was the case.

So most fans are very satisfied with “Rise of the Beasts” and are hoping for a sequel, which with luck won’t take another five years to arrive. But what are the chances?

Will Rise of the Beasts be continued by Transformers 7?

The good news is that “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is fundamentally seen as the beginning of a new trilogy. Although the film does not end with a big cliffhanger and therefore largely stands on its own, the story can – and should – continue.

Whether this will happen is currently still questionable. “Rise of the Beasts” was rather underwhelmed in the cinema and the film would have to do very well on DVD, Blu-Ray and Paramount+ to justify a sequel. Maybe Paramount also hopes that the suggested “GI Joe” crossover in the next film will automatically attract more viewers.

There will definitely be another “Transformers” adventure in 2024. “Transformers One” is an animated film that has no connection to the live action films. In the English original, the Autobots are voiced by stars such as Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson.

It is now certain that Paramount and Hasbro will not simply abandon the “Transformers” series. The unsuccessful theatrical release of “Rise of the Beasts” could at most result in a readjustment, but the end of the Transformers has certainly not come yet.
