The Digitus DS-55314 at a glance

Thanks to wireless HDMI transmitters, cables are a thing of the past. Because the special technology allows data transmission via radio. In our test, eight devices were put to the test, with the result: The Digitus DS-55314 is currently the best wireless HDMI transmitter that has passed our laboratory’s test course. It scored particularly well with an excellent Full HD image – even at greater distances (up to 20 meters). Video is transmitted in full HD at 60 frames per second and the audio support can also shine: DTS and Dolby 5.1 are offered here. That’s why the testers gave the top rating of 1.0 for the “Performance” category. On top of that, the equipment is comprehensive: The Digitus DS-55314 has a receiver and transmitter, and there is also the option of connecting up to four receivers. On top of that, it offers a wired HDMI output and an infrared extension. However, an additional HDMI cable is not included.

However, the Digitus DS-55314 is not quite perfect: fans of 3D television will be disappointed because Digitus does not support the format. In addition, the testers awarded the rating “poor” in terms of efficiency. The power consumption is quite high – and there is hardly any difference between operation and standby (7.8 watts vs. 5.8 watts).

Our conclusion at the time of testing:

“In the test, the Digitus DS-55314 not only impresses with an excellent Full HD image, even at greater distances, but also with its extensive equipment. This includes, for example, the HDMI cable output, an infrared extension and the option of up to to connect up to four receivers. For the high price, at least one transmitter and one receiver are included in the scope of delivery, but the high power consumption and the missing mains switch are displeasing.”
