Just before a festival of announcements of big video game releases coming in June, the month of May is certainly not lacking in big video games to watch.
The year 2024 has already spoiled us well in terms of video game releases. We notably had Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Palworld and Tekken 8 in January; Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Helldivers 2 and FF7 Rebirth in February; The Thaumaturge, Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin in March; and finally Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Sand Land, Stellar Blade, as well as No Rest for the Wicked and Manor Lords in early access. Now for the releases for the month of May, with a pretty nice program!
Very nice video game releases in May 2024
Although our list comes a week after the start of hostilities, it is worth recalling a few headlines that came out before this article was published. Among the lot, we can notably cite Endless Ocean Luminous on Switch on May 2, as well as the very nice surprise Hades 2 in early access on PC on May 6, a rogue-lite which promises to be as divine as Hades of the first name . However, there are still many releases to watch for the rest of the month.
We can notably cite the Operation Guns DLC from Vampire Survivors, in collaboration with the legendary Contra franchise, coming on May 9 on PC, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch and mobiles. On May 13, big fans of space strategy games will be able to board the hype ship, heading to the PC with Homeworld 3. On May 14, another rogue-lite that we really appreciated will be released in early access on PC: Prince of Persia The Rogue.
The second half of May will not be left out for the three big fish in video games: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. On May 16, PC players will finally be able to take a trip to feudal Japan with the port of the superb Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch. Xbox will follow suit with the visual slap that will be Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory, highly anticipated on May 21 on PC and Xbox Series. The same day, those nostalgic for World of Warcraft will be able to (re)experience the explosive Cataclysm expansion in its Classic form. Finally, FPS fans will be able to try out the repeatedly postponed free game from Ubisoft: XDefiant.
On May 23, Switch players will be spoiled by the much-noticed return of two licenses. On the one hand: Paper Mario: The Millennium Door will get a Remake. On the other hand, World of Goo 2 will return to us after an excellent first opus released in 2008. The home stretch of May video game releases will be closed by a PS5 and Xbox Series version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on May 24; the resurrection of MultiVersus on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles on May 28; and finally F1 24, also on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles on May 31.
