try this full game-style mod for free!

To curb our impatience to play the highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC, a Dark Souls 3 mod that looks like a full game is now playable via a free demo!

Called Dark Souls: Archthrones, this mod developed by the group of the same name clearly has no reason to be ashamed of a complete game developed by FromSoftware. It presents everything that makes the cult saga of the Japanese studio special and even adds completely new features! So it’s up to you to try it if you’re missing Souls-like.

A new unofficial and very ambitious DLC for Dark Souls 3

The Archthrones modding team has been working on this extremely ambitious project linked to the PC version of Dark Souls 3 for a while. Released in 2016, this title still occupies a prestigious place in the genre initiated by FromSoftware. It was not until Elden Ring that he was completely dethroned. This excellent third opus, however, still continues to fascinate players, but also modders.

The proof is with Dark Souls: Archthrones, a so-called “overhaul” mod of the original game. But to call it a mere “improvement” is an understatement. Offering five gigantic zones, nearly twenty original bosses, fully voiced NPCs, rich lore quests and new mechanics, it is in reality a real expansion, or even a whole new game. A fanmade game which in any case shows incredible promise, which it is now possible to play via a free demo (obviously only on PC)! This can be downloaded via its dedicated Nexus Mods page.

A good way to wait for Elden Ring DLC

To enjoy Dark Souls: Archthrones, you must follow a few steps and prerequisites. First of all, you must have a fresh version of a complete edition of Dark Souls 3, its two expansions included. From then on, you can download the mod demo and copy the contents of the .zip file to the “Game” folder of the base game. Then all that remains is to set your preferred language in the game’s Steam properties. Once all this is done, you can enjoy this mod clearly made with a lot of love and passion.

In any case, this is an excellent way to wait for the long-awaited Elden Ring DLC. If you tried it and appreciated the titanic work put into it, don’t hesitate to give the mod a thumbs up and recommend it. It’s not every day we see mods of this magnitude and quality. It is therefore the least we can do to salute the admirable initiative of its creators!
