TSMC celebrates the launch of production of its latest generation semiconductors.

The world number 1 in chips confirms its leadership in the field, and its roots in Taiwan.

State-of-the-art semiconductors

This is an important step. TSMC has just started mass production of its 3 nanometer semiconductors in southern Taiwan, at Tainan. Long-awaited chips for new technologies like 5G.

According to the founder, these 3 nanometer chips will benefit from a density gain of 60% and will consume 35% less energy than 5 nanometer components. They will also use the innovative TSMC FINFLEX architecture. Enough to allow the giant to stay at the same level as Samsung, which started production of these chips last June.

TSMC has invested nearly 55 billion euros for this factory, and “ estimates that 3nm technology will create finished products with a market value of US$1.5 trillion within five years of volume production”.

TSMC remains loyal to Taiwan

The celebratory ceremony was also an opportunity for the company’s president, Mark Liu, to respond to those worried about TSMC’s investments abroad, such as its plan to create a factory in Dresden, Germany. .

TSMC maintains its technology leadership while investing significantly in Taiwan, continuing […] to thrive in its environment. This 3nm volume production and capacity expansion ceremony demonstrates that we are taking concrete steps to develop cutting-edge technology and increase capacity in Taiwan he commented.

And the manufacturer is already preparing for the future. It is, in fact, already in the process of organizing the development of its 2 nm chips. They will be produced at its site in Hsinchu, in the northwest of the country, about a hundred kilometers from the capital Taipei.
