TV debate: Biden and Trump have a virtual debate

Donald Trump and Joe Biden will hold their TV debate virtually on October 15th. Trump's positive corona test was decisive for this.

The next TV duel between US President Donald Trump (74) and the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden (77) should take place virtually. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Debate Commission announced it on Thursday. Trump is supposed to answer the questions from the White House, Biden will answer the concerns of the citizens in another office. Furthermore, presenter Steve Scully (60) will greet undecided voters at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, Florida.

In the second debate, the aim is to minimize the health risks due to the corona pandemic. The decision comes six days after the US President's positive corona test, and more than twelve other White House employees also tested positive for the corona virus. Democrat Biden had already emphasized that the duel should not take place if Trump was still sick or infectious.

Trump is unapologetic

The virtual duel was "unacceptable", said Trump after the decision in an interview with the television station Fox Business. “I'm not going to sit down at a computer and waste my time on a virtual debate,” said the US President. “That's not what the debate is about.” The next debate is scheduled for October 15th, the third for October 22nd in Nashville, Tennessee, with the presidential election on November 3rd.
