Salzburg. A couple of weeks before Christmas. The late forties Franz (Simon Schwarz) secretly dreams of a career as a rock guitarist, but in real life he has an unsuccessful existence as a music teacher. In addition, his marriage to Linn (Patricia Aulitzky) is in deep crisis and the pubescent daughter Julie (Lucy Gartner) hardly talks to her parents. One day, Franz witnessed an elderly gentleman, Egon (Nikolaus Paryla), having a fatal accident on the street. From then on Franz is pursued by Egon as a ghost – only visible to Franz. As a result, his everyday life is completely out of joint.

Christmas at "Bares for Rares". Horst Lichter welcomes the rare owners to the atmospherically decorated Drachenburg Castle and rings in the Christmas season. How much are Christmas tree decorations, tin toys and star brooches worth? The four experts examine large treasures and small curiosities. Even prominent owners of beautiful things want to sell their rarities to the highest bidder in front of a historical backdrop. In the Christmas edition, swing singer Tom Gaebel tries to sell an object that he bought when he bought his house.

Every second, tax money in Germany is thrown out of the window with full hands. There are no limits to official madness. In the special episode, Comedian Mario Barth presents the top five most expensive tax wastes. Of course, the BER airport is also an issue. As guests: Ilka Bessin, Laura Wontorra, Ingo Appelt and Guido Cantz.

The young family man Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) serves as a captain in the US Marines and is the pride of his parents. His convicted brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal) is completely different: He has always been the black sheep of the family and especially his father has only contempt for him. But then Sam comes under fire during a mission in Afghanistan and is pronounced dead. His wife Grace (Natalie Portman) falls into deep grief. Only through Tommy's attention does she gain new courage. A tender love develops between the two. But then Sam, believed dead, surprisingly returns home.

New York, just before Christmas, everything is preparing for the festival. Only the employees of the renowned Cole department store are plagued by serious existential worries. But advertising manager Dorey Walker (Elizabeth Perkins) has a brilliant idea: She hires the suddenly appearing old Mr. Kriss Kringle (Richard Attenborough) as Santa Claus. The fact that Kringle believes he is actually Santa Claus doesn't bother her, because the old man brings great success to the department store – which the competition doesn't at all enjoy.
