In "The Secret of the Dead Forest" (The First), two double murders occurred in 1989. Carmen Nebel presents "The Most Beautiful Christmas Hits" on ZDF. "X-Men: Origins" (ProSieben) later sheds light on the early years of Mutant Wolverine.

8:15 p.m., The First, The Secret of the Forest of the Dead (1), Crime

In the summer of 1989, the sister of the Hamburg LKA boss Thomas Bethge (Matthias Brandt) disappears without a trace from her house in Lower Saxony, where terrible double murders have taken place. The police in Weesenburg seem overwhelmed. Bethge is facing the most difficult task of his life: He wants to find his sister, but as a Hamburg police officer is not allowed to investigate in Lower Saxony. Undeterred and for almost three decades, Thomas Bethge researched a mysterious criminal case against great resistance before he, already retired, uncovered a mysterious serial killer.

Lauren (Christina Ricci) suffers from bipolar disorder after a robbery that kills her baby. To feel safe, she and husband Russell (Brendan Fletcher) move into a luxury apartment equipped with smart technology. Strange incidents soon occur. Lauren is disturbed, Russel declares her paranoid. Lauren then contacts the hacker Vernon (John Cusack).

Ekki (Oliver Korittke) has inherited his aunt's house and the field that goes with it. But that creates a lot of problems for him. The body he and Wilsberg (Leonard Lansink) find in the house is just one of them. The victim, farmer Habich, led a fight against the municipal utilities. His biogas plant could have supplied the whole village with electricity. But the municipal utilities, who own the power grid, had something against it. Also their regional manager Oliver Brandstetter (Godehard Giese). He derives a tangible advantage from Habich's death.

However, this peace is disturbed when his girlfriend Kayla (Lynn Collins) is apparently murdered by his dangerous half-brother and also mutant Victor (Liev Schreiber). Wanting revenge, Logan accepts an offer from former boss Major Stryker (Danny Huston) to coat Logan's bones with indestructible adamantium. Logan begins the hunt for Victor.
