Remember back then Twitch was a video game streaming platform. But that was before. In a year marked by the continuation of the current health context and therefore the increase in the number of hours watched, but also with multiple debates on the content available to viewers, or the arrival of major media for dedicated programs, such as TF1 or BFM TV, Twitch has established itself more as a community site and a social network, abandoning its games category a bit. It is therefore not surprising to see the category Just chatting still in the lead with 3.1 billion hours watched.
The games are obviously not left out since they populate the 9 other places in the ranking, and it is GTA 5, well helped again this year by many parts of GTA RP (like the RPZ in France), which ends up ahead of LoL with 2.1 billion against 1.8. Fortnite, number 2 in 2020, is the latest game to pass the billion mark. If the places change, the top 5 has not moved since 2020. As for the non-game categories, music is relegated to third place while the new category hot tubs, swimming pools and beaches did not meet the expected success in the end, with barely 43,000 hours.
