As Twitch users know, chatting can sometimes get out of the control of some streamers. The latter are often busy entertaining their community through games or other means, the moderators take over in order to alert or ban people who do not respect the guidelines. The link between content creators and their moderators must therefore be based on trust, but sometimes things don’t go as planned…
“He is not the only one”
Moderators therefore have great power over streamers’ chat and therefore over their community. Unfortunately, they sometimes use it against the interests of the creator and Kai Cenat would just pay the price.
If you’ve never heard of Kai Cenat, he’s one of the most influential content creators in the world. Last October, he became the Twitch streamer with the most active subscribers, with 104,772 subs. It therefore has a colossal community.
Going through his unban requests on November 22, Kai Cenat noticed a post that accused one of his Twitch moderators of charging users $3 in order to be unbanned. Although this allegation was not confirmed, the streamer immediately took it seriously and threatened to fire all of its moderators on the spot.
A complicated story
Since then, the accused moderator has had his powers removed from the Kai Cenat channel. This is not the first time that the content creator has been put in the sauce with respect to his moderators. Beginning of November, he had faced a wave of hateful comments after he revealed he doesn’t pay his moderation team, alongside xQc.
Now, the streamer is planning other changes to his team of mods because as he said during his stream: “He is not the only one”. Kai Cenat therefore already seemed to have doubts. He now wants to work with people in whom he has complete confidence, not risking being broken by an accusatory message.
