Twitch is expanding its advertising program to include more creators and pay them more money.

At the beginning of the year, Twitch started offering some streamers guaranteed fixed payment in exchange for showing a specific number of ads for a specific number of minimum hours during the month. Yesterday, Twitch has opened the program to other partners and changes the payout structure to better reward creators.

Originally, the gains obtained thanks to the advertising benefits program were calculated using a CPM model. Simply put, streamers received a fixed amount for every 1,000 ads watched on their channel.

Although affiliates are not yet included in this new program, they will be able to benefit from 55% of advertising revenue from August, provided broadcast three minutes of advertising per hour. Twitch will also disable pre-live ads very inconvenient for users who display advertisements during this same duration.

Last April, a media report Bloomberg indicated that Twitch was looking for ways to increase revenue by potentially lowering streamers’ compensation. This report had scared several streamers. However, Twitch has never confirmed that it will be making any changes to its current model. This new extension of its advertising program could be a way to lessen the shock of any changes not yet announced.
