Petit Stream: Origins of a benevolent initiative
If you’ve ever tried Twitch as a streamer, you’ve probably quickly come across one of the biggest problems of this platform: you don’t exist, no matter how much you gesture, have perfect speech or a remarkable level of play, it is particularly difficult to find a place in an environment so little conducive to development on your own. Twitch is difficult, it’s no surprise to anyone.
Only here, some like Clarence Dandrige are rather inclined to help others and do not appreciate letting potential nuggets give up for lack of visibility. After reading an article from the world who believed that “95% of content produced on the live video streaming platform attracts five viewers or less“, this anonymous man has decided to add his stone to the building of Twitch by creating a site allowing all streamers and all streamers with less than 5 viewers to one day have their little hour of glory. Finally… Their ten minutes of fame, shall we say! Petitstream.com was thus born on July 31st.
When the “little ones” help other “little ones”, it makes noise!
We almost all know a friend streaming quietly day after day but blocking with two to three viewers. This was my case, and while this dear El_Gustavito was peacefully playing World of Warcraft in front of its 3 spectators, an unlikely event took place this Tuesday, August 16, 2022: suddenly, nearly 90 spectators showed up out of nowhere, taking an interest in this WoW player they didn’t know not until then and showing a rare and almost suspicious benevolence. The magic of Petitstream.com had just worked, and the initiative seemed so extraordinary to me that I chose to highlight this site and its community after being interested in it for a long time.
But then, what is the concept of Petitstream.com?
The idea is simple: it is a website automatically hosting and for only 10 minutes a French-speaking Twitch channel on which there are less than 5 spectators at the time of hosting. After these 10 minutes, a new stream is put forward, and keeps repeating. Concretely, it is a very quick and temporary spotlight allowing not only “little streamers” to convince the dozens of spectators present for the occasion, but also to the latter to discover a whole bunch of new potentially interesting content creators. that they would never have found while routinely hanging out on Twitch. A completely free give-and-take bet that requires neither subscription nor registration: everything is automated!
The idea is all the more interesting because it is not limited to streamers on a particular game. By remaining passively on Petitstream.com, you will thus discover streamers playing sometimes League of Legends, sometimes Overwatch… But also sometimes lesser-known games, Inside the Backrooms or Stellaris for example, enough to also expand your library. video games!
What is most surprising about this initiative is that the community is particularly caring and receptive to the original concept at the time of this writing. After hours of watching various and varied streams over and over, I have noticed that the spectators landing on the streams thanks to this site are almost all there for the same purpose: to discover, have a good time and above all to bring support for streamers forgotten and unknown to the general public. It is also common for a wave of a few dozen “follows” to follow the hosting of each channel every 10 minutes, a rare and precious support!
Petitstream.com is for the moment a rather original experience (although not unique in the world) and entirely French allowing little anonymous people to help other little anonymous people, all thanks to the brilliant idea… of a little anonymous! An initiative which, I hope, will gain visibility for the good of all on Twitch! And long live the little streamers!
