Twitchwhich drastically restricted its streamers from broadcasting content simultaneously on other platforms, has decided to relax its rules.
During TwitchCon Las Vegas 2023, the video streaming platform announced a number of new features coming to the service. Beyond improvements to features such as stories, the clip editor, moderation tools, or alert and advertising management, Twitch now allows simultaneous broadcasting on several platforms.
A response to Kick?
Since last August, Twitch had already eased the pressure on streamers by authorizing what it calls simulcasting on mobile applications like Instagram and TikTok, that is to say that creators could launch the same live stream on Twitch and on one of these two apps.
As of now, streamers now have the ability to simulcast on Twitch and any other video streaming platform. “We believe you should have the freedom to decide which services you want to live stream on”indicates the sector leader in a blog article.
In reality, this is undoubtedly a maneuver aimed at recovering important streamers who have moved to the competitor Kick, with a sulphurous reputation, but which offers a sharing of revenues much more in favor of the creators. xQc or Amouranth, who signed large contracts with Kick, could thus broadcast their content on both services at the same time.
No merging of cats
Twitch, however, imposes some conditions to authorize simulcasting. First of all, the quality of the stream broadcast on Twitch should not be “inferior to the experience on other platforms or services”. Additionally, they must not share a link on Twitch to their own stream on a competing service. However, it is planned in the future to deploy a tool allowing you to indicate that it is a simultaneous broadcast.
Another directive given to streamers is that they are prohibited from using third-party services to merge chats from the different platforms for which they broadcast.
