Peiter “Mudge” Zatko signed a non-disclosure agreement with Twitter last June, receiving a whopping $7 million in exchange. He will still have to testify against his former employer in the Twitter trial vs. Musk.
According to wall street journal, Twitter agreed in June to pay around $7 million to “whistleblower” Peiter Zatko, the man at the center of recent revelations on the social network, and whose allegations will form part of Elon Musk’s case against the ‘company. This compensation follows a months-long mediation involving tens of millions of dollars in potential salary.
Interesting information, therefore, when we know that his testimony is extremely valuable to Elon Musk. The South African businessman appealed to Zatko, the latter having recently squashed the policy of Twitter, in particular its management of bots. The whistleblower, fired by Twitter in January 2022, was previously the microblogging network’s security manager. He recently accused the company of falsely claiming it had a strong security plan and making misleading statements about its defenses against hackers and fake accounts.
Zatko is expected to meet with US senators on September 13 to discuss his allegations. As part of the deal with Twitter, he agreed to a nondisclosure agreement that prohibits him from speaking publicly about his time at Twitter or disparaging the company.
