Abad is seeking a third term
The minister was implicated the day after his appointment to the government for sexual violence and targeted between the two rounds of the legislative elections by new accusations from a woman who told Mediapart that she had suffered an attempted rape in 2010. He denies all the charges which have not yet given rise to any new judicial investigation.
Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne invited women victims of sexual violence to file a complaint during a campaign trip this week.
Mr. Abad, a former LR who rallied to the macronie before his appointment to the government, is seeking a third term as a deputy in the 5th constituency of Ain. He came out of the first round on a favorable ballot, with 33.38% of the vote, against 23.54% for the Nupes candidate Florence Pisani.
