Two injured – mother of IS fanatic shoots down Cobra officers

Dramatic scenes during an attack by the Cobra anti-terrorist special unit in Tyrol. The mother of an IS fanatic of Turkish origin, who threatened to cut off the heads of police officers here, crashed her car into two elite police officers in Sellrain in the Innsbruck-Land district on Saturday. One officer was seriously injured and another slightly injured.

The tip had come from a foreign secret service to the domestic protection of the constitution. The investigations by the Directorate for Intelligence and State Security (DNS) started immediately. In fact, the 18-year-old terror suspect and self-confessed IS fan is said to have rolled out concrete plans for attacks on police stations in social forums. Interior Minister praises international cooperation Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) emphasized the cross-border cooperation in a broadcast. “The Austrian state security authorities are closely monitoring developments in the Islamist scene and are conducting structural investigations in close cooperation with European authorities.” The minister wished the injured Cobra officer a speedy recovery.
