two new games available, with a nice nugget

Xbox Game Pass members have reason to rejoice today with the addition of two new games to their library. Beautiful little wonders.

Xbox Game Pass is known for its pleasant and regular surprises for its users. And what better time than December, a festive period, to spoil your subscribers with beautiful gifts? This end of the year promises to be exceptionally rich. Marked by the inclusion of two new games in the catalog, thus guaranteeing to end the month in style.

Two great games for Xbox Game Pass

We start with Against the Storm. A roguelite-style city building game, offering a city building experience condensed into accessible sessions, each of which can be completed in a single evening. Set in a fantasy world populated by humans, beavers, lizards, harpies and foxes, these races stand united against hidden dangers and incessant rain. As viceroy, your mission is to colonize wild lands and gather valuable resources to rebuild the Smoking City, the only safe haven from apocalyptic storms.

Your role is to manage resources, assign workers, and establish supply chains across multiple production buildings. You must also respond to the needs of your villagers and decide what tasks to complete to keep the queen satisfied. It can sometimes provide you with powerful benefits, and different combinations of effects can create synergies that alter the fate of your colony. The guiding principle is to play with the cards you are dealt, adapting and experimenting to get the most out of the tools at your disposal. In short, strategy on Xbox Game Pass.

Another nugget

The other game on Xbox Game Pass is Tin Hearts. A puzzle game that integrates emotional storytelling with Lemmings-style gameplay. In the game, players guide toy soldiers through various levels, maneuvering them from one point to another. The story revolves around Albert J. Butterworth, a brilliant Victorian toymaker, and explores his family life and relationships. The game takes place in Albert’s house, and as players progress, they learn more about his life through clues scattered around, such as notes, and through cutscenes that offer insight into his past.

Tin Hearts’ gameplay is unique in that players do not directly control the toy soldiers. Instead, they manipulate the environment to remove obstacles and chart the correct path for the soldiers. Levels are ingeniously designed with increasing complexity, introducing new mechanics such as time control which allows players to fast forward or rewind time, move objects and plan soldiers’ movements.

Although Tin Hearts focuses primarily on the puzzle aspect, its artistic environments and integration of a toymaker’s world into the gameplay are ingenious. The game is also very well rated on Steam.
