Tyrolean (63) cheated – after phishing attack: perpetrators investigated

At the end of November, a 63-year-old man from Innsbruck was phished by fraudsters who were initially unknown for more than 10,000 euros. As the police have now announced, two women have been identified as suspects.

At the time, the Tyrolean was asked via SMS to install what was supposed to be an app from his bank on his mobile phone. A few days later he noticed that his three accounts were missing money. “Overall, a low five-digit euro amount was debited,” said the police. After intensive investigations, a 36-year-old Austrian and a 57-year-old German have now been identified as alleged perpetrators. Both women will be reported to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office after the investigation is over.
