U-turned twice – the wrong-way driver turned around in the tunnel because of the navigation system

On the night of Saturday to Sunday, a driver (42) turned his vehicle around in the Plabutsch Tunnel in Graz because the navigation device asked him to do so. Luckily no one was injured during the ghost ride.

A Kosovar living in Germany was driving his car on the A9 from Hügelsheim towards Linz around 10:40 p.m. Shortly after entering the Plabutsch tunnel, the navigation system asked the man to turn around – and the 42-year-old actually followed the instructions! He stopped in a breakdown bay and turned around. He then drove in the tunnel for about 1,600 meters on the second lane in the opposite direction. Tunnel had to be closed Due to the wrong-way driver, the tunnel in the direction of Linz was closed by the tunnel control officer and traffic was redirected through the city area. When the driver realized his mistake, he turned around again in the tunnel and continued in the correct direction. The man was stopped and checked by the patrol while he was still in the tunnel. An alcohol test was negative and the 42-year-old is now being reported.
